  Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Barcelona

  Barcelona has got everything ready to host one of the most important and prestigious regattas in the world: the America's Cup. From August to October 2024, Port Vell and along the beach to Port Olympic will be the scene of a very exciting competition. The America's Cup is famous because there is only one winner and no second place is awarded. It is the oldest international trophy, dating back to 1851. For many years the trophy has been won by the New York Yacht Club of the United States but since 1983 countries such as Australia, Switzerland and New Zealand have won it, with the current champion being the Emirates Team New Zealand. Barcelona's Port Vell will have large areas and viewing platforms for the public. After various preliminary regattas, the America's Cup Match will begin on October 12, 2024.

  Barcelona's International Boat Show

  The 62nd Edition of the International Boat Show of Barcelona has a special program dedicated to the America's Cup this year. The third major international sports competition (after the Olympics and the World Cup) will be held in Barcelona in 2024, and the Boat Show is revving up excitement by allowing fans to learn more about this significant milestone.   Competing at sea Museu Marítim de Barcelona

  The Maritime Museum of Barcelona offers an exhibition that traces the history of Catalan regattas, from their beginnings in beach clubs to the present day, with numerous elite athletes in the spotlight. The exhibition includes documentary works dating back to June 1821 and covers milestones such as the emergence of yacht clubs, the rise of sailing, the multiplication of regattas and the most prominent figures in Olympic competitions.

  Penelope the Sea is Yours Museu Marítim de Barcelona

  Inspired by the myth of Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, in which Penelope showed her ingenuity and patience in delaying the choice of a new husband, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona offers an exhibition called Penelope, the Sea is Yours, which presents the experiences and challenges of six women linked to the world of sailing. They are Abril Marfà, a promising eleven-year-old who is not afraid of challenges; Natalia Via-Dufresne, a sailor with a long history of victories; Nora García, a world champion in Nacra 15 who dreams of an Olympic title Maria Torrijo, the first woman in the world to hold the titles of judge, referee and international regatta official; Andrea Emone, sailor and aerospace engineer with the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team; and Ana Pujol, a multiple champion in skate sailing regattas. The exhibition will include activities designed to introduce children to the world of sailing.

  Kakapo Open Race

  The Kakapo Open Race is an international adapted-sailing regatta. This year, on the occasion of the America's Cup, it will be held for the first time in Catalonia, coinciding with the Spanish Championship of Adapted and Inclusive Sailing, allowing participants to accumulate points in both competitions. This regatta highlights the importance of inclusivity in sport, opening the sea to everyone and reinforcing the commitment to equal opportunities.
