Time Machines. Redrawing the Past and Fabulating the Future in Prison - Arts Santa MònicaExhibitions
06/27/2024 - 09/08/2024
Time Machines explores time and desire in prison, presenting a conceptual and visual framework that reflects on this abstracted space where detainees evoke the past and yearn for a different future. The exhibition, which focuses on artistic creation in hermetic contexts, highlights vulnerability and the desire to manifest itself through various forms of art. Antoni Hervàs, with his methodology of intense involvement, has woven creative relationships in various penitentiary centres, resulting in a main installation and a prelude that reveal the emergence of representations from within. This time capsule, created in collaboration with Mery Cuesta, contains artistic and interpretative treasures of the prison world, offering a profound reflection on our own reality in contrast to life in deprivation of liberty.
